Roof moss removal in the Fraser Valley: a homeowner's guide
What causes moss and algae on your roof, how a low-pressure drone soft wash removes it without anyone on your roof, and what to expect when you book.
Why Fraser Valley roofs grow moss
Long, wet winters keep roofs damp for months. Moss and algae grow best where the roof stays shaded and slow to dry — north-facing slopes, sections under tall trees and areas where needles and leaves collect.
Green moss usually shows up as soft clumps along shingle edges. Algae often appears as dark streaks running down the slope. Both make a roof look older than it is.
Moss, algae or something else?
Not every stain is growth. Dark marks can also come from debris, water flow or wear. That's why every visit starts with a look at your roof material and the growth before any cleaning is done.
If you want a first opinion, you can upload photos to our free photo advisor. It describes what it can see — it is a photo-based cleaning assessment, not a certified inspection.
How low-pressure drone soft washing works
Instead of a high-pressure blast, the drone applies a low-pressure soft wash treatment from the air. Nobody has to climb a ladder, lean it against your siding or walk across your shingles.
This makes drone cleaning a good fit for steep or two-storey roofs, homes under tall trees, acreage buildings and strata or townhouse roofs.
Which roofs it suits
Our soft wash is suitable for asphalt shingle, cedar and metal roofs. If your roof is made of something else, ask us first — we'll tell you honestly whether the treatment fits.
What to expect from booking to follow-up
1. Request a check-up online or by phone and choose a preferred date. Your date is a request — we contact you to confirm the appointment.
2. We look at the roof material, the growth and the area around your home before we fly.
3. The drone applies the soft wash.
4. We check the results, share before-and-after photos and talk about keeping growth from coming back.
Keeping moss from coming back
Growth returns fastest where roofs stay shaded and damp. Keeping gutters and valleys clear of needles and leaves helps the roof dry out. We'll give advice specific to your roof at the follow-up.
